148 Nigerian Migrants Safely Repatriated from Sudan, Received in Kano by NEMA

Returnees transported to Kano for profiling, provided with transport support after documentation

 

The National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA), Kano Operations Office, on Thursday, September 19, 2025, facilitated the safe reception of 148 Nigerian migrant returnees from Sudan as part of ongoing government efforts to ensure the safe repatriation of citizens stranded abroad.

 

The returnees arrived at the Malam Aminu Kano International Airport (MAKIA) around 2:30 p.m. aboard a Tarco Aviation chartered flight from Sudan.

Breakdown of Returnees

25 adult males

27 adult females

39 male children

57 female children

 

Upon arrival, the returnees were received by NEMA officials and other stakeholders before being transported to Chila Hotel in Kano for profiling and documentation.

 

Support Provided to the Returnees: While the returnees were not enrolled in any reintegration programme, each was provided with financial support to aid onward transportation. They received ATM cards loaded with transport fares after completing documentation and profiling.

 

The reception exercise was described as well-coordinated and successfully executed, with NEMA reaffirming its commitment to supporting Nigerians stranded abroad and ensuring their safe return.
