For months, a Mauritian identified as Louis Angelo Christiano Beauyeux — nicknamed “Handsome” — was in the crosshairs of the Anti-Drug and Smuggling Unit (ADSU) of Grand-Baie. Suspected of drug trafficking, the 21-year-old had managed to evade arrest due to lack of concrete evidence.

But that changed on Saturday, June 14, 2025.

Acting on a tip-off, ADSU operatives learned that Beauyeux was reportedly selling drugs near a football field in Petite-Pointe-aux-Piments. The team sprang into action, determined not to miss their chance this time.

Keeping him within their sights, ADSU officers closed in and conducted a thorough search. Their efforts paid off — 18 pieces of aluminum foil, each containing a powder suspected to be heroin, were found in his possession.

Beauyeux, unfazed by the arrest, refused to speak during initial questioning. He was taken to the Criminal Investigation Division (CID) office in Grand-Baie, where he invoked his right to remain silent.

The investigation continues as ADSU works to dismantle drug networks operating in the region.
