A Nigerian 22-year-old graduate of Afe Babalola University, Ado Ekiti, Ekiti State, simply identified as Feranmi Akinye, has died following his sudden fall from a 26-storey Cocoa House building located in Ibadan, the Oyo State capital.

It was noted that the graduate was on training as a cybersecurity at a company on the eighth floor of the building.

It was gathered that Akinye lived with his mother in the Apata area of Ibadan, while his father was based in the United States of America.

According to a neighbor of the deceased, he stated that the young man was commanded by his superior to mount a large wall banner at the top of the tall building, Cocoa House, a task typically meant for professionals equipped with necessary tools and machineries.

” They asked him to mount a giant banner meant for professionals, but because of his humility, he agreed,” the neighbor stated.

Following the sad incident, he was rushed to the emergency ward at the University College Hospital, UCH, Ibadan, but pronounced dead on arrival.

The 22-year-old deceased has been buried on Tuesday, 3rd June, 2025.

However, it was learned that his father, who was based in the USA, was considering legal action against the company for alleged negligence.
