The state’s environmental enforcement team targets notorious locations in Agege as part of the ongoing #ZeroToleranceLagos campaign, with suspects to face prosecution.

In a sweeping enforcement operation aimed at restoring public order and environmental sanity, the Lagos State Environmental and Special Offences Taskforce arrested 84 individuals in Agege on Friday, June 20, 2025.

The crackdown, part of the state government’s ongoing #ZeroToleranceLagos campaign, focused on areas notorious for street crime and environmental infractions. Among the targeted locations were the Railway corridor at Ojurin, Isale Oja, Oke Koto, and the AP junction, along with other adjoining streets in Agege.

According to a statement shared by Jubril Gawat, the Senior Special Assistant on New Media to Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu, the operation was carried out by Taskforce officials who encountered and apprehended individuals suspected of being miscreants and environmental offenders.

“During the raid exercise, a total of 84 suspects were arrested, comprising 82 males and 2 females,” the official statement noted. “All the suspects will be charged to court accordingly.”

The clean-up effort reflects the state government’s reinforced commitment to reclaiming public spaces from lawlessness, unauthorized trading, and other environmental violations. Authorities have warned that similar operations will continue across other parts of Lagos as part of broader efforts to improve safety, sanitation, and urban order in the metropolis.
