American Citizen Pens Scathing Letter to Nigerian Senate, Warning Against Ambassadorial Nominee’s “Pathological” Character and Questionable Loyalty

The Nigerian Senate has been urged in stark terms to reject the ambassadorial nomination of prominent media personality and Californian resident, Reno Omokri, in a damning open letter from an American citizen who describes Nigeria as his “second home.”

The letter, authored by Mike Arnold, levies a series of grave personal, ethical, and professional allegations against Omokri, framing his potential appointment as a severe risk to Nigeria’s international standing.

Arnold, claiming deeper ties to Nigeria than the nominee himself, accuses Omokri of “pathological” dishonesty and a history of abandoning familial and political loyalties for financial gain. The letter catalogs specific claims, including Omokri’s absence from his father’s funeral, the alleged abandonment of an autistic son in California, and complicity in covering up a rape accusation against his brother.

The communication also highlights Omokri’s sharply contradictory political stances. It notes that after previously labeling President Bola Tinubu a “drug baron,” Omokri later called him “Christlike.” Similarly, the letter alleges Omokri decried “Christian genocide” under the previous administration only to later dismiss the claim as a “hoax” under the current government.

“This is no diplomat,” Arnold writes. “This is a shape-shifting mercenary who sells his tongue to the highest bidder and his soul to the nearest camera.”

The letter further references a public accusation of sexual harassment made by Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan against Omokri at a State House event, and mocks his social media persona as that of an “effeminate, preening peacock.”

Arnold’s core argument hinges on national image. He warns that confirming Omokri would reinforce the “most damning international stereotype of Nigeria: the slick scammer,” thereby “de-marketing the nation in a very corrosive way.”

“When a foreign government or lobby offers Reno more money tomorrow than Abuja does today, he will flip and sell out Nigeria,” Arnold asserts, predicting embarrassment on the world stage within six months.

The letter concludes with a direct plea: “Deny the nomination. Your fatherland deserves better than a paid liar who wouldn’t even bury his own father.”

The Senate is yet to issue an official response to the publicly circulated letter. The allegations contained within are expected to intensify scrutiny on Omokri’s nomination as confirmation hearings approach.
