Nigerian controversial Islamic scholar Sheik Ahmed Gumi has been stopped by the Saudi Arabia authorities from performing the 2025 Hajj and deported back to Nigeria.
This is according to his post on social media, Facebook, on Monday, 26 March, 2025.
The cleric stated that the Saudi government had earlier permitted him an entry into the country for Hajj, but he wasn’t allowed to enter Medina to begin his religious duties.
Gumi said that he was refused entry due to his views on word politics, ” Due to some reasons related to my views on world politics, the Saudi Arabia authorities don’t want me to to be present at Hajj” he post on his Facebook page.
“I am grateful to the authorities in Nigeria who have pledged to engage with the Saudi government on thos matter,” he added.
According to information, Sheik Gumi is part of a delegation of Islamic scholars sponsored by the Nigerian Hajj Commission ( NAHCON ) to travel to Suadi Arabia for religious services.
It was maintained that Gumi and other delegates arrived in Medina on a Umza Air flight, but upon arrival at the city’s airport, Saudi immigration officers stopped the cleric from entering the country.
However, Guni has now returned to his home country, Nigeria, to continue his daily activities
