CCTV On Third Mainland Bridge To Check Suicide Attempts – Nigeria Minister of Works, Umahi
The Nigeria minister of works, Umahi, under the administration of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, has installed digital cameras, CCTV on popular Lagos State Bridge to check suicide attempts
Umahi stated this during a program on a television station on Friday, April 4, 2025.
The minister maintained that the camera was also installed to deck anyone who is excavating sand within the 10 kilometer beside the bank of sea on Third Mainland Bridge.
“An examination security post has been built to be watching the CCTV so that anyone who is trying to take his or her life on the third mainland bridge, they will be spotted,” the minister affirmed.
Mr Umahi also spoke on the reopening of Lagos Independence bridge following emergency repair works.
He maintained that the closure of the bridge was due to structural failure involving the approach slab of the bridge, which caved in due to a faulty design.
” The initial construction of the approach slab was done as a cantilever, which was structurally inappropriate,” the minister stated.
However, he said that by May 25, 2025, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu would inauguratate 30 kilometers of the Lagos-Calabar Coastal Highway.
