Viral Video of Reclaimers Ministry Sparks Debate on Modesty and Religious Freedom

Evangelist Isaac Josiah, lead pastor of Reclaimers Ministry in Benin City, has stirred controversy after distributing bras, wrappers, and pajamas to worshippers during a Sunday service on September 14, 2025

A video of the service, shared on the church’s official Facebook page, shows Pastor Josiah instructing ushers to hand out the clothing items as part of an effort to enforce modest dressing among members.

He told the congregation that women wearing revealing outfits would be given bras or wrappers, while men exposing underwear or sagging trousers would receive belts or pajamas.

“If you can’t afford a bra, the church will provide one,” Josiah said, warning that those unwilling to comply should find another church.

The pastor appointed three ushers—identified as Brothers Osase, Eric, and Chimere—as disciplinarians to monitor compliance with the new dress code.

He also directed breastfeeding mothers to cover their cleavage with wrappers, stating that “breasts are for husbands and children.”

The policy has sparked wide debate online, with some praising the emphasis on modesty and others criticizing it as intrusive. The church has not issued an official response to the backlash.
