Construction giant pledges redeployment of Ekiti indigenes beyond ring-road project, aligns with state’s unique Local Content Policy to boost jobs and prevent capital flight.
Craneburg Construction Company Limited has renewed its commitment to ensuring job security for Ekiti State indigenes employed on the ongoing ring-road project, pledging to redeploy them to other projects once the contract concludes.
The assurance was given during a working visit to the company’s Lagos head office by the Director-General of the Ekiti State Bureau of Local Content, Mr. Olalekan Ijidale, who was received by Craneburg’s Head of Procurement, Mr. Fouad G. Boulos.
Mr. Ijidale commended Craneburg for adhering to the state’s Local Content Policy, which mandates contractors to prioritize indigenous manpower. He highlighted that Ekiti remains the only state in Nigeria with a dedicated Bureau of Local Content, a framework that has generated hundreds of jobs, boosted socio-economic development, and curbed capital flight.
“Our people finance these projects through the taxes they pay, so it is only fair they benefit directly. When companies hire locally and invest in indigenous skills, it supports families, empowers communities, and strengthens the state’s economy,” Ijidale said.
He further emphasized the government’s commitment to institutionalizing local content, describing it as a critical tool for protecting jobs, rewarding taxpayers, and ensuring that project value remains within the state.
In response, Mr. Boulos assured that Craneburg would continue to engage Ekiti indigenes after the completion of the ring-road project. He pledged that workers would be redeployed to other project sites and that the company would promptly notify the Bureau of Local Content whenever new vacancies suitable for Ekiti residents arise.
Both parties agreed to maintain strong collaboration to ensure smooth redeployment of workers and strict adherence to the state’s local content framework.
