Ekiti State to Establish EKSU Satellite Campus in Aramoko, University Delegation Conducts Site Inspection
EKSU delegation praises infrastructure at Aramoko District Commercial Secondary School, project awaits Senate approval
The Ekiti State Government has announced plans to establish a satellite campus of Ekiti State University (EKSU) in Aramoko-Ekiti, aimed at expanding access to higher education in the region.
A delegation from EKSU, led by Professor D.G. Olasiji, recently visited Aramoko to inspect facilities identified for the proposed campus.
The team was received at the Palace of the Alara of Aramoko, where the Regent, Princess Serifat Owolabi Adekemi Adeyemi, extended a formal welcome. She described the initiative as a significant milestone for the town and pledged the traditional institution’s support for the project.
The delegation subsequently visited the Aramoko District Commercial Secondary School (ADICO), earmarked as the host site for the new campus. Members of the Alara-in-Council and representatives of the Aramoko Development Association (ADA) were present during the inspection.
After evaluating the infrastructure, the EKSU team expressed confidence in the site’s suitability for the university’s part-time and sandwich programmes, pending final approval from the university’s Senate.
Officials described the project as a strategic effort to decentralize tertiary education in Ekiti State, enhance educational opportunities, and support regional development.
