Governor Adeleke Appoints Street Vendor as Osun State Government House Chef
In a remarkable act of empowerment, Governor Ademola Adeleke of Osun State has appointed Oluwatosin Adejumo, a young street vendor who once sold puff-puff in Osogbo, as a chef at the Osun State Government House.
The appointment, formally announced on Friday, fulfills a promise the governor made during a solidarity rally in Osogbo earlier this year. At the event, Governor Adeleke surprised attendees by purchasing all of Adejumo’s puff-puff for ₦50,000 and offering her a position as a chef at the Government House.
Reports indicate that Adejumo, a holder of the Nigerian Certificate in Education (NCE), impressed the governor with her culinary skills and the variety of dishes she could prepare. Moved by her talent and dedication, Adeleke instructed his aides to collect her details for formal engagement.
During a ceremony at the Osogbo Government House, Adejumo, accompanied by her parents, received her official appointment letter, marking a significant milestone in her journey from street vending to public service.
Governor Adeleke described the appointment as part of his administration’s commitment to empowering citizens, promoting inclusivity, and recognizing grassroots talent. He emphasized that hard work, skill, and dedication, regardless of one’s background, deserve recognition and reward.
The news has resonated widely across Osun State, earning praise from citizens who commend the governor for uplifting an ordinary citizen and offering hope to hardworking youths aspiring to achieve their dreams.
