IDF Confirms Targeting Senior Hamas Commander

Hamas military spokesman Abu Obeida is reported to have been killed in an Israeli airstrike in Gaza City, according to Saudi news channel Al Arabiya citing a Palestinian source. The source stated that the strike targeted the apartment where Abu Obeida was present, resulting in the deaths of all occupants. His family and Qassam Brigades officials reportedly confirmed his death.

The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) and Shin Bet confirmed that the operation targeted a senior Hamas commander in Gaza City. Israeli officials have expressed optimism that Abu Obeida was killed, though no official confirmation has yet been released.

The IDF stated that it took measures to minimize civilian casualties, employing precise munitions, aerial surveillance, and intelligence prior to the strike.

Earlier, Abu Obeida had warned that Israeli hostages were being held alongside Hamas fighters in combat zones, exposing them to the same dangers as militants. Hamas said it would “preserve the lives of the captives to the extent that we can.”

The situation remains fluid, and further updates are expected as more information becomes available.
