BAHAMAS —A Disney cruise took a dramatic turn over the weekend when a man jumped overboard to save his daughter after she fell into the ocean.
According to a report, the incident occurred aboard the Disney Magic cruise ship during a voyage near the Bahamas. Around 8 p.m. Sunday evening, the young girl — whose age and identity have not been officially released — somehow fell from the vessel into the water. In a heart-stopping moment, her father immediately leapt into the ocean to rescue her.
Witnesses say there was a swift response from the ship’s crew, who quickly initiated man-overboard procedures and launched a rescue boat. The U.S. Coast Guard and Bahamian authorities were also notified.
Both the father and daughter were pulled from the water alive after spending several minutes in the sea. They were taken on board and immediately assessed by the ship’s medical team. Officials confirmed that neither suffered life-threatening injuries.
Disney Cruise Line released a statement on Monday confirming the incident and commending the quick actions of both the father and ship personnel. “We are thankful for the safe recovery of our guests,” the statement read, noting that safety is the company’s top priority.
The ship continued on its itinerary after a brief delay, while authorities and Disney officials conduct a full investigation into how the child went overboard.
The names of the family members involved have not yet been disclosed.
This incident has renewed discussions around cruise ship safety protocols and railing heights, especially concerning young children.
