Shock and panic swept through the National Assembly complex in Abuja on Sunday after the decomposed body of a 55-year-old man was discovered inside a parked vehicle near the annex gate.

Security personnel and medical workers responded immediately, moving the corpse first to the National Assembly Clinic and then to Asokoro General Hospital. However, doctors reportedly declined to admit the remains due to the severity of the decay.

In a dramatic turn, Tiv community leaders and youths transported the body to Gbawu Village on the AMAC–Kuje border, where it was hastily buried to prevent a potential public health crisis.
