A 52-year-old trophy hunter, identified as Asher Watkins, has died after being fatally charged by a Cape buffalo during a hunting expedition in Limpopo, South Africa.

 

According to local authorities, the incident occurred on Sunday while Watkins was tracking the massive animal, estimated to weigh around 1.3 tonnes. The buffalo reportedly charged without warning, striking Watkins with lethal force before he could react. He was killed instantly at the scene.

 

The Cape buffalo, known for its strength and unpredictable temperament, was unharmed in the incident and left the area following the attack.

 

However,  the case has reignited debate over trophy hunting in South Africa, where the practice remains legal but controversial.
