Following an extramarital sexual relation between a man and a woman in Indonesia, the couple has been flogged 100 times publicly on June 4, 2025, in Aceh province .
According to information, it was noted that the offense committed by the couple violated the region’s Islamic legal code, and both of them were punished in a park in the provincial capital, Banda Aceh, where crowd observed as the two were lashed in sets of 10 with a rattan stick.
It was noted that a female Sharia police officer carried out the flogging to the woman.
The province, Aceh, was said to be the only Indonesia province to strictly enforce Sharia law, outlaws extramarital sex, gambling, and alcohol consumption. On the same day, three persons were punished with 49 lashes for alleged gambling and consumption of alcohol.
