Labour Party Issues 48-Hour Resignation Deadline to Peter Obi Over Coalition Ties

The Labour Party has issued a 48-hour ultimatum to its former presidential candidate, Mr. Peter Gregory Obi, demanding his resignation from the party following his association with a newly formed political coalition.

In a strongly worded statement released by its National Publicity Secretary, Obiora Ifoh, the party disavowed any involvement in the coalition, labeling it a gathering of “recycled, desperate, and frustrated politicians” who do not represent the values of a “New Nigeria.”

The party accused Obi of convening “nocturnal meetings” aimed at persuading Labour Party members to defect, adding that while some have resisted such moves, others with “dual loyalties” are being monitored closely.

“We will not tolerate members who pretend to align with the Labour Party while secretly pushing the agenda of another political formation,” the statement read.

Reaffirming its commitment to charting a fresh course for Nigeria, the party emphasized that it would not align with individuals it believes were complicit in the country’s past failures.

“Desperate politicians cannot birth a new Nigeria. What they offer is a ruse,” Ifoh stated, adding that the Labour Party remains focused on building a movement powered by Nigeria’s youth, who represent nearly 70% of the population.

The party called on all loyal members to uphold its structure and mission ahead of the 2027 elections, stressing that only the Labour Party can deliver on the promise of real change for the country.
