K-Light shares the painful lessons from his marriage, detailing financial sacrifices, emotional strain, and the challenges of blending families.

In a candid interview, music promoter and producer K-Light revealed that marrying a single mother of two remains the biggest regret of his life.

The music executive explained that he was already in a committed relationship when the woman, a single mother, reached out to him with a seemingly innocent friend request. According to K-Light, she strategically positioned herself after his then-girlfriend abruptly ended their relationship, citing family opposition to marrying a Yoruba man.

K-Light alleged that the breakup had been orchestrated by the woman who eventually became his wife. He claimed she subtly manipulated the situation “behind the scenes,” leaving him unaware that he was being influenced until much later.

Despite knowing that her children lacked a father figure, K-Light said he fully committed to their welfare. He financially supported their education, rented a self-contained apartment for her in Ibadan, and even stayed elsewhere during visits to avoid disrupting the children’s routine.

As their relationship grew, K-Light rented a mini-flat in Lagos to prepare for their future together. He disclosed how he routinely prioritized her financially, stating, “If I made ₦500,000, I could give her ₦350,000 first and still manage from the remaining ₦150,000.”

During the COVID-19 lockdown, the producer earned over ₦4 million from a project with artiste Dotman, which he used to pay her bride price and cover marital expenses. After she moved to Lagos, they initially lived comfortably in the mini-flat before upgrading to a two-bedroom apartment when she became pregnant with his child.

However, K-Light noted that her interest in the marriage began to wane during this period, marking the start of significant challenges in their union.
