The grieving mother of late Nigerian comedian Sanku has spoken out, describing him as the breadwinner of the family while debunking money ritual allegations. She recounts his promises to support her before his sudden death

Sanku’s mother has cried out in grief following the tragic death of her son, describing him as the breadwinner of their family and her greatest source of support.

“He was my fifth child out of six,” she said tearfully. “Sanku took good care of me and his siblings. He made many promises to me, but death did not allow him to fulfill them. I have no other helper—he was the only one I relied on. He always assured me that I should rest my mind because he would establish me. The last time he called was three days ago, saying he would be traveling. I never knew that would be the last time I’d hear from him.”

Recounting her struggles, she revealed how she suffered to raise her children. “I am a pepper seller. Sanku had already told me to stop selling pepper because he wanted to set me up in a bigger business. When the accident happened, I was told he was getting better in the hospital. I never knew he had already passed away.”

She also dismissed rumors that her son engaged in money rituals. “To everyone saying my son did rituals, that is a blatant lie. He was a devoted Muslim, hardworking, and had loved comedy from a very young age.”

In her final words, she prayed: “Nigerians, may you never know the graves of your children.”
