A Nigerian makeup artist identified as Abdullahi Huseini, also known as Amuscap, had bagged six months imprisonment for abusing and mutilating the Nigerian currency, NAIRA.
According to information, Justice S.M. Shuaibu, who presided over a Federal High Court in Kano, sent Abdullahi to prison in response to a charge levied against him by Nigerian anti graft agency, the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC.
During the court hearing, Huseini pleaded guilty to a one-count charge, abuse of the naira, brought against him by the EFCC.
“Abdullahi Musa Huseini, on the 6th day of December, 2024, at Ali Jita Event Centre, Kano, and acting within the jurisdiction of this Honourable Court, you were dancing during a social event and tampered with the sum N100,000.00 (One Hundred Thousand Naira) in 1000 notes denomination issued by the Central Bank of Nigeria, you were spraying the money at the occasion and by this you have committed an offence contrary to and punishable under Section 21(1) of the Central Bank Act, 2007.” The charge reads
While speaking during the court proceedings, Zarami Mohammed, the prosecution counsel, presented the facts of the case and presented evidence to support the charge.
Justice Shuaibu, when accessing the evidence, found the defendant guilty and sentenced him to jail, with no option of fine, Huseini is to serve six months.
