The operatives of the Nigeria Customs Service have intercepted 11 containers conveying unregistered sex pills, expired foodstuffs, and many contraband worth N921 million at Apapa Ports between January and April, 2025.

This was revealed to newsmen when showcasing the seized containers in Apapa on Wednesday, 30 April 2025.

According to the Controller General of Customs, Adewale Adeniyi, said that the 11 containers contained contraband items with a total duty paid value of N921 million.

He maintained that the containers had 89 cartons of unregistered pharmaceutical products while another container contains 242 cartons of unregistered pharmaceutical products.

“The 3rd 40-foot container had 1,001 cartons and packages of hydra-sildenafil citrate tables, which lacks requisite NAFDAC registrations. Another 40-foot container had unregistered 1,400 packages of chest and lungs beat plus big booty tablets. The fifth 40-foot container had 805 packages of unregistered products. ” The Controller General of Customs stated.

He added that there are products that were falsely declared as a cosmetic powder. Then, another container that has expired margarine products and 60 units of warriors drones.

He noted that the intercepted drones in one of the containers with a duty paid value of N15.9 billion lacked the End User Certificate from the Office of the National Security Adviser.

The Controller General warned that the disturbing trend in the importation of unregulated sexual performance drugs poses serious health risks, including potential cardiovascular complications and harmful drug interactions when used without proper medical supervision.

He stated that the seizures exposed that importers are diversifying their contraband portfolios, combining pharmaceuticals and foods, and control technology in systemic shipment.

However, he said that in terms of inter ganecy collaboration, the Customs Service is working with critical regulatory agencies, which includes NAFDAC, the Drug Law Enforcement Agency, and the Office of the National Security Advisor.
