Nollywood Actor Ibrahim Chatta Mourns Loss of Son

Nollywood actor Ibrahim Chatta is in deep mourning after the death of his son. The 54-year-old actor shared the heartbreaking news on Instagram on Saturday, though he did not provide details surrounding his son’s passing.

Accompanying a photo of his late child, Chatta wrote: “Inna lillahi wa inna ilayhi raji’un. Ya Allah, You are the Knower of all things. Rest on, dear son, champ.”

The post immediately drew an outpouring of condolences from fans, colleagues, and fellow industry practitioners, who flooded the comments section with prayers and messages of support.

Tragically, Chatta’s loss comes just days after veteran actress Peju Ogunmola lost her only son, Ayomikun, in Ibadan. The back-to-back tragedies have left Nollywood in shock, as the industry grapples with the sorrow of losing two young lives in such a short span.

Chatta, a seasoned actor known for his roles in both Yoruba and English-language films, previously revealed the painful loss of his first child, a daughter, in June. At the time, he recounted how poor medical care and financial constraints forced him to bury her in an old wooden Coca-Cola crate, a memory he described as a lifelong wound.

The actor’s recent loss serves as a grim reminder of the personal struggles behind the glitz of Nollywood, evoking a wave of empathy and solidarity from the entertainment community and fans alike.
