Group launches “Go Get Your PVC” campaign, targets four million registered voters in Abia ahead of 2027 elections

The Abia State chapter of the Obidient Movement has called on Nigerians, particularly residents of Abia, to overcome the disappointment of the 2023 presidential election and take proactive steps to shape the nation’s democratic future.

Speaking at a press conference in Umuahia on Monday, the state coordinator of the movement, Chukwuebuka Ezennaka, emphasized that selling Permanent Voter Cards (PVCs) or boycotting the ongoing continuous voter registration exercise would only empower anti-democratic forces to “hijack” Nigeria’s political process.

Ezennaka urged all eligible Nigerians without PVCs to take advantage of the Independent National Electoral Commission’s (INEC) current registration window. He also advised voters who wish to relocate their polling units to act promptly, warning that failure to participate is akin to endorsing election malpractice.

As part of its renewed push, the group unveiled a sensitization initiative tagged the “Go Get Your PVC” campaign. According to Ezennaka, the campaign seeks to ensure wider voter participation, making election rigging increasingly difficult.

Reaffirming faith in Labour Party’s 2023 presidential candidate, Peter Obi, Ezennaka said the former governor remains steadfast in his mission to “reset Nigeria.” He predicted that Obi’s 2027 presidential bid would surpass his 2023 performance, riding on the strength of a more politically active and vigilant electorate.

Citing official INEC figures, he recalled that Abia had 2,120,808 registered voters in 2023, with 1,949,197—representing 91.9%—successfully collecting their PVCs. The Obidient Movement, he announced, has set a bold target of expanding the voter base to at least four million in Abia by 2027 through sustained grassroots mobilization and public enlightenment efforts.

By this drive, the movement hopes to consolidate voter awareness, strengthen electoral credibility, and energize Nigerians to take ownership of the democratic process.
