Ondo Traditional Ruler Arrested for Allegedly Raping 12-Year-Old Girl Held Captive for Two Weeks
ONDO STATE — The Ondo State Police Command has arrested Chief Adeniyi Ifedayo, the traditional ruler (Baale) of Laagba community in Ondo East Local Government Area, for allegedly raping a 12-year-old girl whom he reportedly kept hidden in his home for two weeks.
According to police sources, the suspect lured the minor to his residence with the help of a commercial motorcyclist and confined her in one of the rooms in his house. During this period, the girl was allegedly subjected to repeated sexual abuse and fed only pap.
The victim, currently receiving treatment at an undisclosed hospital in Ondo town, revealed that the motorcyclist may have been aware of the plan. “He [the Baale] kept me in his house for two weeks and assaulted me every day,” she said.
Concerned over her disappearance, the girl’s family had raised an alarm and declared her missing. After two weeks, the suspect reportedly transported her to Akure, where he abandoned her.
Confirming the incident, Area Commander T.Y. Pickson said the case has been handed over to the State Police Command in Akure for further investigation. The Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Ayanlade Olayinka Olushola, also confirmed the arrest, assuring that a thorough investigation is ongoing.
