One Killed as SUV Crashes Into Commercial Bus on Lagos–Badagry Expressway
A fatal accident claimed the life of one person in the early hours of Monday following a collision between a sport utility vehicle (SUV) and a commercial bus along the busy Lagos–Badagry Expressway.
The crash, which occurred at the Volkswagen bus stop, inward Mile 2, involved a Toyota Highlander that rammed into a commercial bus reportedly loading passengers illegally by the roadside. Eyewitnesses said the SUV, which was traveling at considerable speed, lost control and struck the stationary bus.
Emergency responders, including officials of the Lagos State Traffic Management Authority (LASTMA) and other rescue teams, rushed to the scene to provide assistance and manage traffic. Unfortunately, the driver of the SUV was confirmed dead on arrival, while no fatalities were recorded among the bus passengers.
Authorities have since reiterated warnings to commercial bus operators against illegal roadside loading, stressing that such practices obstruct traffic flow and expose commuters and other motorists to severe dangers.
The body of the deceased has been evacuated to a morgue, while investigations are ongoing to determine the exact circumstances surrounding the accident.
