Comrade Ozobo Austin rejects Independence celebration, accuses leaders of exploiting region’s resources and vows continued pursuit of Niger Delta freedom.

DELTA STATE — As Nigeria marks its 65th Independence Anniversary, Niger Delta activist, Comrade Ozobo Austin, has declared that the concept of “One Nigeria” remains a scam, insisting the oil-rich region will continue to pursue freedom and justice.

In a strongly worded statement, Austin said successive governments have failed to ensure equity, fairness, and justice in the distribution of national resources, leaving the Niger Delta marginalized despite being the nation’s economic mainstay.

“There is nothing new to celebrate about Nigeria’s independence. My people are still marginalized, balkanized, oppressed, and subjected to the lowest form of life. Truly, One Nigeria is a scam,” he said.

The activist accused political leaders of deceiving minority resource owners with the ideology of national unity while exploiting their wealth. He further alleged that some former agitators had been compromised with money and power, weakening the struggle for Niger Delta liberation.

“Some of those who once stood strong with us have been bought over. They now sing the song of One Nigeria. But those of us who remain will not relent. Time will tell,” Austin stated.

He urged Nigerian leaders to abandon selfish agendas and instead focus on building an egalitarian society where justice prevails. According to him, the Niger Delta people will continue their push for liberation until true equity is achieved.

“One day, we will all stand before the temple of justice to account for our actions. Arise Niger Delta’s true revolutionaries. There is no better time than now,” he added.
