Osun APC Warns PDP Against Taking-over of LG Secretariats
By Bukola Kuteyi
The ruling party, All Progressives Congress( APC) Osun State chapter, has warned the people of Osun State on an impending crisis over an alleged plan by the state government to install the officials elected in the February 21 local government election in the secretariats council across the state.
While speaking in Osogbo, the state capital, Mr Sunday Akere representing the leadership of the party, the ex-Osun information commissioner, said Governor Ademola Adeleke’s administration is planning to do this by using an order of the court.
In response to Akere, the former member of Osun State House of Assembly, Olatunbosun Oyintiloye, former commissioner for local government and chieftaincy, Adebayo Adeleke, and former special adviser to the governor, Jamiu Olawumi, in their response said, the government is working towards getting a judgment from Osun State High Court sitting in Ikirun on April 17, 2025.
The former commissioner, Adebayo Adeleke, stated that the plan to use the order of mandamus from the court to bring the chairmen elected on the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party to the council secretariats, which is currently being controlled by court-reinstated APC chairmen and councilors with the assistance of Amotekun Corps and hoodlums might lead chaos.
The spokesperson to the Osun State Governor, Olawale Rasheed, reacted to the allegations in a statement; he described APC’s allegations as mere blackmail.
And that APC was afraid of imminent backlash over their illegal occupation of local government secretariats.
He further noted that Governor Adeleke has no intention of instituting any court action after his directive to the PDP elected chairmen and councilors, which is why he urged them to abide by the rule of law and avoid violence.
This is against Akere words, where he said that the plot to bring PDP chairmen into its LG secretariats might throw the state into a round of unrest.
However, he employs Osun APC to face a legal battle and leave the governor out of their self-imposed and self-inflicted moral, legal, and political injuries.
