Adeleke Submits Resignation Letter, Thanks PDP for Past Electoral Victories as Senator and Governor
In a major political development, the Governor of Osun State, Ademola Nurudeen Jackson Adeleke, has formally resigned his membership from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), attributing his decision to the ongoing crisis within the party’s national leadership.
The resignation was confirmed through an official letter addressed to the Chairman of the PDP in Sagba Abogunde, Ward 2, Ede, Osun State. Dated November 4, 2025, and stamped as received, the letter states clearly that Adeleke’s resignation is effective immediately.
Adeleke wrote:
“Due to the current crisis of the national leadership of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP), I hereby resign my Membership of the People’s Democratic Party with immediate effect.”
He also expressed gratitude to the party for the opportunities afforded to him, acknowledging his electoral successes under the PDP banner—first as Senator representing Osun West and later as Governor of Osun State.
Adeleke’s exit from the PDP marks a significant shift in Osun State’s political landscape and raises questions about his next political move. His resignation comes amid visible internal strife within the PDP at the national level, which has led to several high-profile defections in recent months.
The original copy of the resignation letter was received and stamped by Saka Kambudeen Alawi, identified as the Ward Party Chairman, confirming the legitimacy and formal submission of the document.
As of now, Governor Adeleke has not announced a new political affiliation. Political analysts are closely watching whether he will join another party or operate as an independent ahead of future elections.
