Conservative commentator Charlie Kirk killed at Utah Valley University event; Richard Lucas defends his philosophy amid debate over school safety and discipline.

Conservative commentator Charlie Kirk has been killed during a school event at Utah Valley University, shocking students, staff, and the broader political community. Kirk, founder of Turning Point USA, was speaking at the university when the incident occurred. Authorities are investigating the circumstances surrounding his death.

In the aftermath, commentator Richard Lucas defended Kirk’s philosophy, challenging claims that he “makes women and girls less safe in schools.” Lucas said that, in Scotland, girls are at risk mainly due to two factors:

Discipline and Behaviour in Schools

Lucas cited inadequate discipline as a key factor in unsafe school environments, arguing that progressive education often excuses defiant or aggressive behaviour among boys. Conservative values promoting personal responsibility and moral guidance, like those Kirk supported, can help create safer schools.

Pornography and Objectification of Girls

Lucas also highlighted pornography’s role in shaping boys’ attitudes, encouraging some to treat sex as a game and objectify girls. Kirk, he said, opposed pornography and promoted sexual restraint until marriage, emphasizing respect and responsibility.

Lucas criticised those equating Kirk with controversial figures such as Andrew Tate, stressing that Kirk’s pro-family, pro-marriage, pro-life, and integrity-driven values are fundamentally different from Tate’s promotion of promiscuity, polygamy, and dishonesty. Traditional conservative values, Lucas said, provide an alternative framework for protecting and honouring women.

“Disagree with Kirk as you wish—but don’t misrepresent his views or persecute school children for holding different beliefs,” Lucas stated.

The investigation into Kirk’s death is ongoing. Utah Valley University has increased security measures and offered counselling services for students and staff affected by the incident.
