Abia State Police foil child trafficking attempt as officers rescue a 6-year-old girl and a 10-month-old baby stolen during church service in Aba.
The men of Nigerian police officers, Abia State Police Command has successfully arrested two women for allegedly stealing children during a church service in Okpuumuobo, Aba.
The suspects, identified as Louis Osueke (58) and Esther Jude (42), were paraded before newsmen by the State Commissioner of Police, CP Danladi Isa, at the command headquarters in Umuahia on Friday, September 19, 2025.
According to the Commissioner, the suspects targeted a church gathering to carry out the abduction, but swift police action led to their apprehension.
The victims, 6-year-old Chidinma Uzochukwu and a 10-month-old baby, were rescued unharmed and have since been reunited with their parents.
CP Danladi commended the vigilance of worshippers and the prompt response of security operatives that led to the successful rescue. He reiterated the command’s commitment to fighting child trafficking, abduction, and other criminal activities in the state.
The case, he added, is under investigation and the suspects will be charged to court upon conclusion of police inquiries.
