“Operatives of the Enugu State Police Command, in the early hours of November 3, 2025, arrested thirteen (13) male suspects and recovered one (1) locally made single-barrelled gun at Akpakume community, Udi Local Government Area,” Ndukwe said.

He explained that the suspects and their cohorts had laid an ambush for the officers, opening fire and injuring some of them while damaging their operational vehicle.

The police operatives, however, responded with superior firepower, forcing the assailants to flee with gunshot wounds. A locally made single-barrelled gun was recovered at the scene.

Meanwhile, the Commissioner of Police, CP Mamman Giwa, led a team of senior officers to Akpakume for an on-the-spot assessment of the damages caused by the attackers.

During the visit, it was observed that the hoodlums had willfully destroyed houses, shops, and other properties, including crops and livestock belonging to residents.

The Commissioner ordered a manhunt for the fleeing suspects and urged law-abiding residents to remain calm and continue their lawful activities, assuring them of the command’s commitment to maintaining peace and security in the area.
