Pothole: Tragedy As Over 20 Nigerian Athletes, Officials Die In Road Accident
Following the just concluded National Sports Festival that occurred in Ogun State, Nigeria, no less than 21 Kano State athletes, officials have died in road accident on their way back from the event
According to eye witnesses, it was noted that more than 10 people sustained various degree of injuries from the fatal accident.
It was gathered that the sad incident occurred on Daka Tsalle bridge, Garun Malam Local Government Area of the state, at about 8:00am on Saturday, May 31, 2025, when the bus hit a pothole and somersaulted.
In a statement by one of the football officials, Mr Ado Salisu, he maintained that 19 out of the athletes, including officials, died immediately on the spot, while two more passed away at Kura General Hospital.
Salisu added that the spokesperson for the Kano state Sports Council, Galadima Ibrahim, was among the victims.
