It’s a black day in the Dominican Republic as a popular nightclub roof collapsed, killed Nelsy Cruz, the governor of the northwestern province of Montecristi, 43 other people, including politicians, athletes, and other guests.

According to information, it was noted that the roof of the Iconic Jet Set Nightclub in Santo Domingo collapsed during a concert and killed 44 people, leaving at least 160 injured.

The concert venue was noted to have been occupied with politicians, athletes, and other guests.

The sad incident was affirmed by the Director of the Center of Emergency Operation and confirmed that the search efforts continued.

“We think that many of the concert guests are still alive, and that is why the authorities here will not give up until not a single person remains under the rubble,” he stated

It was gathered that rescue workers spent hours clearing debris to reach those trapped beneath the ruins.

Daily Observer gathered that among the victims was an athlete, MLB All-star Nelson Cruz, who had ealeir called the president Luis Abinader, to report that the Nightclub roof had collapsed and was trapped, however, later died in the hospital.
