Federation reshuffles age-grade teams as experienced tacticians take charge of Flying Eagles and Golden Eaglets.

The Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) has announced the appointment of Abdu Maikaba and Eboboritse Uwejamomere as head coaches of the men’s U-20 and U-17 national teams, respectively.

The appointments follow a broader reshuffle of the technical crews across all age-grade national teams.

In a statement, the NFF said its Executive Committee approved the recommendation of the Federation’s Technical and Development Committee for the appointments.

“The Nigeria Football Federation Executive Committee has endorsed the recommendation of the Federation’s Technical and Development Committee for the appointments of Abdu Maikaba and Eboboritse Uwejamomere as head coaches of the U-20 and U-17 boys’ national teams,” the statement read.

Maikaba brings a wealth of experience, having managed several top Nigerian clubs. He previously handled the U-17 national team, the Golden Eaglets, and served as assistant coach of the U-20 team, the Flying Eagles, during Paul Aigbogun’s tenure.

He has also coached notable sides including Enyimba FC, Wikki Tourists, Kano Pillars, and Plateau United. His standout achievement came in 2017 when he led Akwa United to win the country’s oldest domestic competition, now known as the President Federation Cup.

Uwejamomere, who takes charge of the five-time world champion Golden Eaglets, has extensive experience in technical analysis and youth development. He has served as a coach-analyst with the senior national team, the Super Eagles, and also worked with the Super Falcons.

He is currently Head of Academy at Sporting Lagos FC, recently promoted to the Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL). His international experience includes youth development roles at Millwall FC, Gillingham FC, and Nottingham Forest in England.

Reports indicate that Uwejamomere beat competition from Beyond Limits coach Olumide Ajibolade and Plateau United coach Shola Adegun to secure the role.
