The suspects allegedly assaulted their colleague during a dispute over a woman following a party in Pune
Two Nigerian nationals have been arrested in India over the alleged killing of a fellow Nigerian following a dispute over a woman in the city of Pune.
The suspects, identified as Chukwudi Okafor, 32, and Samuel Eze, 34, were taken into custody by Indian authorities for their alleged involvement in the death of Emeka Christian, a 40-year-old garment trader.
According to police reports, the incident occurred in the Pisoli–Phursungi area of Pune after the victim attended a party at the apartment of a Nigerian woman. Christian was said to be legally residing in India, with a valid visa extending until 2027.
What began as a friendly gathering reportedly escalated into a heated argument linked to a romantic relationship involving the woman.
“One of the accused was in a relationship with the woman and frequently visited her apartment. The victim objected to this, which triggered a quarrel,” a police source disclosed.
The argument allegedly turned violent as Christian attempted to leave the apartment. He was reportedly attacked with a hard object, sustaining severe injuries.
The victim collapsed shortly after the assault and was rushed to a nearby hospital, where he was pronounced dead while receiving treatment.
Police authorities have confirmed the arrest of the two suspects and stated that investigations are ongoing, with efforts underway to identify and apprehend other possible accomplices connected to the incident.
