Rod Hotel & Apartments Ltd has officially announced the termination of its ambassadorial agreement with Nigerian actor Jigan Baba Oja (JBO), citing public concerns linked to the ongoing controversy surrounding the tragic death of singer Ilerioluwa Aloba, popularly known as Mohbad.
In a statement released via their official Instagram page, the hospitality company emphasized that its decision was based on core values of justice, integrity, and accountability, noting that recent public discourse compelled them to reassess their brand associations.
“As an organization that stands for justice, integrity, and the rule of law, we cannot ignore the concerns raised by the public,” the statement read. “We stand in full solidarity with the call for justice and openly support the efforts of VeryDarkMan and other well-meaning Nigerians who are pushing for truth and accountability in Mohbad’s case.”
Rod Apartment clarified that their decision does not amount to an assumption of guilt on Jigan’s part but is instead a proactive step to align the brand with the sentiments of its clientele and the broader Nigerian public.
“Though we entered into a six-month partnership with JBO and are only in the first month, we are choosing to terminate the deal without seeking a refund. This decision is made on principle, not profit,” the statement continued
The company reaffirmed its commitment to being a trustworthy and values-driven brand, assuring customers of its dedication to transparency and ethical standards.
The move comes amid intensifying public scrutiny and renewed calls for justice in Mohbad’s death, with several influencers and activists demanding accountability from those alleged to be involved.
