Tuokpe Onuwaje, Reno Omokri’s first wife, accuses him of neglecting their special needs son, criticizing his focus on social media over meaningful parenting.
Tuokpe Onuwaje, the first wife of Nigerian author and former presidential aide Reno Omokri, has publicly accused him of neglecting their son, who has special needs. In a strongly worded Facebook post, Tuokpe criticized Omokri for prioritizing social media appearances and photo opportunities over meaningful parental involvement.
Calling him out directly, she wrote, “Stop showing up just for photo ops—show up for real life. Our son with special needs is waiting for quality time with his dad, not just the fleeting visits you do with his siblings.” She revealed that Omokri has not seen or spent time with their son since June 2024, describing the absence as a deliberate and hurtful form of neglect. “Over a year!” she emphasized.
Tuokpe’s post urged Omokri to value presence and consistent parenting over curated social media moments. “Prioritize meaningful moments over social media validation. Be present, be involved, and be a constant in your children’s lives,” she wrote. “Real parenting happens in the everyday moments, not just in staged photos. Put down the camera!
The emotional outburst has triggered widespread reactions online, sparking conversations around fatherhood, public image, and the responsibilities of co-parenting—especially when raising a child with special needs.
As of the time of reporting, Reno Omokri has not responded publicly to the allegations.
