Suspended Kogi Senator Natasha Sues Nwaebonyi N5Billion Over Defamatory Remarks
By Bukola Kuteyi
A suspended Senator representing Kogi Central, Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan, has filed a N5 billion suit against Senator Onyekachi Nwaebonyi, her colleague, who is representing Ebonyi North Central Senatorial District, over an alleged defamation.
The senator filed the suit through her lawyer, Michael Numa, at the Federal Capital Territory High Court in Abuja.
She seeks to declare the claim by Nwaebonyi during a television interview on March 6, 2025, as a false and malicious statement.
Akpoti-Uduaghan asserts that Nwaebonyi described her as a gold digger, habitual liar, and habitual blackmailer.
“The claimant is not tarnishing the chances of women in politics as falsely alleged. On the other hand, she is an inspiration to women, encouraging them to be bold in their pursuit of political aspirations and good governance.”Her lawyer.
Similarly, the senator from Kogi proceeded by seeking a court order to restrain Nwaebonyi from making further malicious statements against her.
However, the suspended Senator further said that Nwaebonyi’s statements had caused significant harm to her reputation and public embarrassment.
