In an extraordinary act of courage, 16-year-old Corion Evans from Mississippi is being hailed as a hero after saving four lives in a dramatic river rescue that has captured national attention.
The incident unfolded when a car carrying three teenage girls accidentally veered off the road and plunged into the Pascagoula River. As the vehicle quickly began to sink, chaos and panic gripped the scene—until Evans sprang into action.
Without a second thought for his own safety, the high school student dove into the river and swam toward the sinking vehicle. Battling the current and darkness, Evans managed to pull all three girls to safety, one by one. But the rescue didn’t end there.
As a responding police officer began to struggle during the rescue attempt, Evans turned back into the water once more—this time to assist the officer, ensuring he too made it to safety.
In total, four lives were saved thanks to the quick thinking, strength, and selflessness of one teenager.
One of the rescued girls, visibly shaken but alive, later said: “He saved my life right before my last breath.”
Local authorities and residents have praised Evans for his bravery, calling him a symbol of hope and heroism in a time when stories of such valor are too rare.
The city of Moss Point has since recognized Evans’ actions, and tributes have poured in from across the country, commending the teen’s calm under pressure and refusal to stand by while others were in danger.
At just 16 years old, Corion Evans has reminded the world that courage knows no age—and that true heroes are defined not by their size, but by their heart.
