“This place has grown too heavy for me. As an empath, I feel too much darkness in the world pressing in. I’ll be stepping away for a while as I must guard my heart.”

The celebrated youth mentor, known for transforming the lives of children in Nigerian slums through chess, said his decision stems from the need to protect his mental and emotional well-being. Onakoya noted that while he is stepping away from Twitter, he will remain active on Instagram and can be contacted via email for urgent matters.

“If it’s important, shoot me an email: tunde@chessinslumsafrica.com. I’ll continue to share my thoughts on Instagram,” he added.

Onakoya’s announcement has sparked reactions across the platform, with many users offering support and praising his vulnerability and dedication to mental health.
