President Donald Trump says authorities have arrested the alleged gunman accused of killing conservative activist Charlie Kirk during a rally in Utah. Officials are set to hold a press briefing with more details.

 

Trump confirms the arrest of Suspect – President Donald Trump has confirmed that a suspect is now in custody in connection with the fatal shooting of conservative activist Charlie Kirk. Trump made the announcement during an appearance Friday morning on FOX & Friends, praising law enforcement for what he described as “a great job.”

 

“I think, with a high degree of certainty, we have him in custody. Everyone did a great job,” Trump said.

 

The suspect has been identified by the New York Post as 22-year-old Tyler Robinson. Federal authorities have not yet publicly released his name or provided details about a possible motive.

 

Press Conference Scheduled in Utah: A joint press conference is set for 9 a.m. ET Friday in Utah. Governor Spencer Cox, Public Safety Commissioner Beau Mason, FBI Director Kash Patel, and FBI Special Agent in Charge Robert Bohls are expected to brief the public on the investigation and arrest.

Manhunt and Arrest in Southern Utah: According to FOX News sources, Robinson was taken into custody in Southern Utah after a nationwide manhunt. Investigators had received more than 7,000 leads following the September 10 shooting at Utah Valley University in Orem, where Kirk was gunned down while addressing a large crowd.

 

Authorities on Thursday released surveillance photos and video of the suspect, showing a man dressed in dark clothing fleeing across a rooftop and then running from the scene.

 

Who Was Charlie Kirk?: Charlie Kirk, 31, was the founder and executive director of Turning Point USA, a conservative youth organization he launched in 2012. Known for his vocal support of Trump, Kirk frequently appeared on Fox News, CNBC, and FOX Business, and was the youngest speaker at the 2016 Republican National Convention.

 

Kirk was instrumental in mobilizing young voters for Trump’s 2024 presidential campaign, becoming one of the former president’s most influential political allies.
