Following a lawsuit filed by the Freedom of Information Act, FOIA, by an American citizen, Aaron Greenspan, a USA federal court, has directed the Federal Bureau of Investigation, FBI and the Drug Enforcement Administration, DEA, to publish documents of the Nigerian President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.

According to the court ruling, it was noted that the public has the right to know, as President Bola Tinubu is a high-ranking politician and serious nature of the allegations.

It was gathered that Aaron sought access to the money laundering and drug activities in Chicago involving President Tinubu records from the 1990s.

Recall that the FBI and DEA had in the past resisted to publish these documents, citing national security concerns and ongoing diplomatic relations, but the high court dismissed these arguments.

The latest development has sparked controversy surrounding Nigerian President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s past, which has been a subject of speculation in Nigerian politics. In 1993, President Bola Tinubu forfeited $460,000 to US authorities in a link with drug trafficking, which was raised during his presidential campaign.

However, the CIA has been granted relief in the case due to insufficient evidence of its involvement in responsive records, and the documents of these records were expected to be published to the public to shed more light on Tinubu’s alleged involvement in drug trafficking and money laundering activities in the 1990s.
