Nollywood actor and filmmaker Yul Edochie has appealed to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to bring back the cashless policy earlier introduced by the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN), emphasizing its economic and security advantages.

In a post shared via Instagram on Thursday, Edochie described the policy as a crucial tool for economic recovery and crime reduction. He commended its previous effectiveness, claiming it helped strengthen the naira and made everyday items more affordable.

“When it was introduced by the last administration, it boosted the value of the naira significantly. Prices of goods dropped, and even low-denomination notes like ₦5, ₦10, ₦20, and ₦50 began to regain their value,” Edochie noted. “It also drastically reduced kidnapping, because it restricted access to physical cash.”

Directly addressing President Tinubu, the actor wrote, “Please consider bringing it back, Sir. Thank you, Your Excellency.”

His remarks have sparked mixed reactions across social media, with some Nigerians supporting the policy’s return, while others voiced concerns about its implementation and the current economic climate.
