Former transport minister formally enters race, vows to restore unity, dignity and national pride
Former Minister of Transportation, Rotimi Amaechi, has officially stepped into the 2027 presidential race after submitting his nomination forms at the African Democratic Congress (ADC) secretariat in Abuja.
The former Rivers State governor confirmed the development on Thursday via his X (formerly Twitter) account, declaring his intention to contest under the ADC platform.
“Today, I submitted my Presidential nomination forms at the ADC Secretariat, officially throwing my hat in the ring to salvage our country, Nigeria,” Amaechi wrote.
Framing his ambition around national renewal, Amaechi said his campaign would focus on restoring hope, strengthening unity, and rebuilding Nigeria’s global standing.
“The mission is clear: we will fight to restore dignity to Nigerians, make our country great and respected in the comity of nations, and deliver unity, peace, prosperity, and progress for our people,” he added.
He ended his message with a rallying call: “Arise and Shine!”
Amaechi’s submission of nomination forms marks a key milestone in his presidential bid, as political maneuvering and alignments for the 2027 general elections continue to intensify across party lines.
