Self-styled Davido lookalike apologises to singer as fresh claims emerge amid already disputed paternity controversy.
A self-proclaimed lookalike of Afrobeats superstar Davido has stirred fresh controversy on social media after claiming that a viral young lady identified as Anu is his biological daughter. The dramatic assertion, made in Owerri, Imo State, has reignited public debate surrounding the already contentious paternity issue.
In a statement that has since gone viral, the man said he decided to speak out after realising that the matter had escalated beyond control. He claimed he is ready to present evidence to back up his assertion, insisting that Anu is his child and not linked to the music star.
Describing himself as a long-time and die-hard fan of Davido, the man attributed the controversy to his strong resemblance to the singer. He recounted an incident in which Anu’ mother allegedly mistook him for Davido after spotting him at a nightclub in Owerri. According to him, despite clarifying that he was not the artist, she remained excited and later followed him to his hotel.
The man, who also claimed to be well-known and financially comfortable in Owerri, insisted that his statement was not made in jest. He further issued a public apology to Davido, asking for forgiveness over the confusion and the renewed attention surrounding the issue.
Recall that Davido’s father, billionaire businessman Dr. Deji Adeleke, had earlier dismissed claims by Anu’s mother that the singer is the father of the young girl. In a video lasting over 30 minutes, Adeleke revealed that a DNA test was conducted two times on both Davido and Anu, with the results conclusively showing that Davido is not the child’s father.
The latest claim by the Davido lookalike has since drawn mixed reactions online, with many Nigerians expressing scepticism and calling for verifiable proof. As of the time of filing this report, neither Davido nor Anu has officially responded to the new allegations.
