A prominent chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Kano State, Barrister Abdulsalami Ginsau, has died after reportedly becoming trapped inside a hotel elevator in Abuja in a disturbing incident that has sparked concern over safety standards.

Eyewitnesses said the tragedy occurred on Tuesday when Ginsau was stuck in the lift for a prolonged period under circumstances that are still unclear. Sources suggest that delays in rescue efforts may have worsened the situation, with fears that he died from suffocation before help arrived.

The late lawyer’s death comes just weeks after a major political milestone. On March 3, 2026, he was elected as the State Assistant Organising Secretary during the APC’s state executive elections in Kano — a victory that made his sudden passing even more shocking.

Reacting to the incident, former federal lawmaker Shehu Sani described the development as both tragic and troubling, raising critical questions about what may have gone wrong.

In a Facebook post, Sani queried whether a power failure, technical fault, or sheer misfortune led to the fatal incident. He offered prayers for the deceased, asking that he be granted eternal rest.
