Oyo governor assures anxious parents of intensified rescue efforts, tight coordination with security agencies
Oyo State Governor, Seyi Makinde, has met with families of pupils and teachers abducted in Oriire Local Government Area, assuring them that all necessary steps are being taken to secure their safe return.
The governor visited the Ahoro-Esiele community, where he addressed grieving relatives, community leaders, and residents shaken by the incident. He acknowledged the emotional toll on the families and pledged that his administration would not relent until the victims are rescued.
Makinde revealed that continuous high-level security meetings have been underway since the abduction, with strong collaboration among security agencies actively working on the rescue operation.
He condemned the incident in strong terms, describing it as cruel, inhumane, and completely unacceptable, while reiterating his government’s commitment to protecting lives and restoring confidence in public safety.
During the visit, some family members passionately appealed to the governor to act swiftly and decisively. Makinde later held a closed-door session with parents and relatives, providing further briefings on ongoing efforts and reassurances that the victims would be brought home safely.
