Texas Tech high jumper becomes first woman to win three consecutive Big 12 indoor titles after setting new meet record.

Temitope Adeshina, a Texas Tech high jumper, has claimed her third consecutive Big 12 Indoor Conference title.

Adeshina secured her latest crown after clearing 1.96m, equalling the second-best mark in Texas Tech history. The leap also set a new meet record, surpassing the previous mark of 1.93m set by Akela Jones in 2016 and Destinee Hooker in 2009.

With the victory, Adeshina becomes the first woman in Big 12 history to win three consecutive indoor high jump titles. She achieved the milestone after edging out strong competition from Kansas State’s Sharie Enoe, who finished second with a clearance of 1.93m.

Speaking after her win, Adeshina credited her rivalry with Enoe as a major source of motivation.

“For me, competing with her is the reason behind the jump. I don’t want to lose to her, so I had to put more effort into it,” she said.

The Nigerian athlete has remained unbeaten in her Big 12 Championship appearances and has now won a total of five conference titles — three indoor and two outdoor — further cementing her dominance in the event.
