Boko Haram Terrorists Issue 72-Hour Ultimatum Over 416 Abducted Victims, Challenge Nigerian Government

Terror group releases fresh video threatening to relocate women and children if demands are unmet, as it dares authorities to attempt a military rescue.

Boko Haram terrorists have escalated tensions with a chilling new message, issuing a 72-hour ultimatum to the Nigerian government over the fate of 416 abducted women and children in Ngoshe, Borno State.

In a video released early Monday, the insurgents warned that failure to meet their demands within the deadline would result in the victims being moved to undisclosed locations, raising fears they could become unreachable.

The group, clad in military-style camouflage and identifying itself as Jama’atu Ahlis-Sunna Lidda’awati wal-Jihad under Imam Abu, openly challenged Nigerian authorities to attempt a forceful rescue, insisting they were fully prepared for confrontation.

Delivering the message in Hausa with English subtitles, the spokesperson declared the ultimatum as both a first and final warning.

“Today, April 19, 2026, we issue this message… We are giving 72 hours. If our demands are not met, we will relocate the victims, including women and children,” the speaker said.

The group also taunted the government, stating that any rescue mission would be met with resistance.

“If you believe you can rescue them by force, you are free to try,” the spokesperson added.

While the terrorists did not specify their demands in the footage, the President of the Borno South Youths Alliance (BOSYA), Samaila Ibrahim Kaigama, disclosed that the group had earlier demanded a ₦5 billion ransom for the captives’ release.

Kaigama described the video as a “final warning” following stalled mediation efforts and urged urgent intervention from key stakeholders.

He called on President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, Vice President Kashim Shettima, Borno State Governor Babagana Umara Zulum, and influential Northern business figures, including Aliko Dangote and Abdul Samad Rabiu, to take immediate action to secure the safe release of the victims.

The latest development underscores growing concerns over the safety of civilians in Nigeria’s conflict-affected northeast, as pressure mounts on authorities to respond swiftly and decisively.
