Coordinated night attack on Nigeria Immigration Service facility raises fresh security concerns across Oyo State

Tension gripped Ogbomoso, Oyo State, on Tuesday night after suspected gunmen launched a daring attack on a Nigeria Immigration Service (NIS) office, overpowering personnel and making away with official firearms.

According to reports, the assailants carried out the operation in a coordinated manner, gaining access to the facility and confronting officers on duty before disarming them. The attackers reportedly escaped with weapons, leaving residents alarmed and security authorities on high alert.

The incident has sparked widespread concern about the safety of government facilities and the growing boldness of criminal groups. Residents in Ogbomoso say the attack has heightened fears of further violence, particularly given the risk posed by the stolen weapons.

Security agencies are yet to release full details of the breach, but efforts are expected to be underway to track down those responsible and recover the stolen arms.

The attack underscores ongoing security challenges in the region and raises urgent questions about the protection of critical institutions and personnel.
